Allianz Care Partners - Worldwide & Vietnam office
A global network built on Allianz Group's scale
Allianz Care traces back to Allianz Worldwide Care, established in Dublin in 2000 as Allianz Group's dedicated international health insurance arm, and rebranded Allianz Care in 2020. It now operates as part of Allianz Partners, drawing on the resources of Allianz Group — founded in Munich in 1890 and one of the world's largest insurers. Allianz Care is recognised as the #1 insurance brand by Interbrand for seven consecutive years and holds an A+ (Superior) financial strength rating from A.M. Best.
Allianz Care
Global international health insurance from Allianz Partners — A+ (A.M. Best) rated, a network of 2 million+ medical providers, and 24/7 multilingual support for professionals, families and corporates across Vietnam and ASEAN.
Every insurer in this directory is reviewed on an ongoing basis by our advisory board against 5 professional criteria — Reliability, Benefits Value, Flexibility, Pricing, and Admin & Claims. Insurers are re-rated as regulations, reinsurance backing, and claims behaviour change, so what you see here reflects our current standing recommendation, not a one-time listing.
No single insurer fits every risk
We represent more than 25 insurers precisely because medical, vehicle, home, factory/office, and professional liability cover each reward a different kind of underwriter. An insurer we rate highly for expat medical cover may not be who we'd recommend for a factory property policy. This profile tells you what Allianz Care is — and isn't — the right fit for.
How Allianz Care scores on our 5 criteria
Scored out of 5 on each criterion. See the full methodology for how we assess reliability, benefits, flexibility, pricing and claims handling across all partner insurers.
Reliability
Wholly owned by the world's largest insurer and underwritten through a France-regulated entity, giving clients strong protection and compliance behind the policy.
Benefits Value
Decades of experience serving demanding corporate clients means an unusually wide menu of plans and options — built for clients who expect choice, not a single fixed package.
Flexibility
Four area-of-cover choices and three underwriting tiers let a policy be shaped around where a client actually lives and travels, rather than a one-size global average.
Pricing
Positioned in the higher price range, reflecting a fully in-house model — underwriting, plan design, claims, assistance and evacuation are all handled directly rather than outsourced.
Admin & Claims
Direct settlement across a very large provider network, a dedicated claims app, and fast turnaround times are the trade-off clients pay for at this price point.

Its Care plan range spans three tiers — Care Base, Care Enhanced and Care Signature — covering in-patient, day-care and evacuation/repatriation as standard, with optional out-patient, dental and maternity modules layered on top. Clients choose a geographic area of cover (Worldwide, Worldwide excluding USA, Africa or Europe) and can apply for cover without a medical questionnaire under the Moratorium underwriting option.
Regulation & financial backing
- Underwritten by AWP Health & Life SA, a French insurance company and Allianz group entity, operating in this business through its Irish branch — following the December 2023 transfer of the book of business previously held by Aetna Health Insurance Company of Europe DAC.
- A+ (Superior) financial strength rating from A.M. Best; part of Allianz Group, publicly listed and one of the largest insurers globally.
- Direct hospital settlement is available across a global network of 2 million+ medical providers, with most fully completed claims processed within 48 hours.
Who we recommend Allianz Care for
Ideal client profile
Professionals, established families, students and corporates who want a globally recognised insurer with the widest direct-billing hospital network on this directory, and who are prepared to pay a premium position for that scale and brand strength. Contracts run for a full year with a 30-day cooling-off period; clients under 12 months abroad are better matched to the short-term Flexicare plan instead. Less suited to price-sensitive clients wanting the lowest entry premium — for that, we'd point you to a different partner on this directory.
Care Signature
Superior cover including maternity, preventive and bariatric surgery, and addiction treatment. Max plan limit US$5,000,000 / €3,703,705.
Care Enhanced
Comprehensive cover with maternity and preventive surgery included. Max plan limit US$2,700,000 / €2,000,000.
Care Base
Foundational in-patient and day-care cover: private room, diagnostics, surgery, oncology, rehabilitation. Max plan limit US$1,350,000 / €1,000,000.
Out-patient plan
GP visits, diagnostic tests, vaccinations and regular health checks, with an optional deductible to manage premium.
Dental plan
Dental treatment, surgery and orthodontics, addable to any of the three core tiers.
Moratorium option
Skip the medical questionnaire — pre-existing conditions become eligible after a continuous 24-month symptom-free period.
Common questions about Allianz Care
Sourced and paraphrased from Allianz Care's own FAQ pages — answered here in the context of clients based in Vietnam and ASEAN.
What's the difference between the three Care plan tiers?
Care Base is the entry-level plan covering essential in-patient needs; Care Enhanced adds maternity and preventive/bariatric surgery at higher limits; Care Signature is the top tier, adding emergency out-patient treatment, laser eye treatment and the highest overall plan limit (US$5,000,000). All three include evacuation and repatriation.
Am I covered for pre-existing conditions?
It depends on the underwriting option chosen at subscription. Under full medical underwriting, pre-existing conditions are generally covered unless specifically excluded. Under the Moratorium option (no medical questionnaire), a pre-existing condition becomes eligible for cover once you've gone 24 continuous months without symptoms, treatment or advice related to it.
How long is the contract, and can I cancel?
Most Care plans run for one year, with a 30-day cooling-off period from the start date. After that, the policy can't be cancelled before renewal, whether paid monthly or annually. Clients needing cover for under a year should look at the Flexicare short-term plan instead.
Can I pay monthly, and are there extra fees?
Yes — annually, half-yearly, quarterly or monthly by card or direct debit (monthly isn't available by bank transfer). Administration surcharges apply: 0% annual, 3% half-yearly, 4% quarterly, 5% monthly.
How does direct hospital billing work?
For most in-patient treatment, Allianz Care settles the bill directly with the hospital through its network of over 2 million providers, so members generally don't need to pay upfront and claim back.
How fast are claims processed?
Fully completed medical claims are processed within 48 hours.
What area-of-cover options are there?
Worldwide, Worldwide excluding USA, Africa, or Europe — chosen based on where the member normally lives or travels for more than 6 months of the year. Choosing a narrower area typically lowers the premium.
