Every insurer in this directory is reviewed on an ongoing basis by our advisory board against 5 professional criteria — Reliability, Benefits Value, Flexibility, Pricing, and Admin & Claims. Insurers are re-rated as regulations, reinsurance backing, and claims behaviour change, so what you see here reflects our current standing recommendation, not a one-time listing.
Underwriting partner update: MyHEALTH Vietnam is now underwritten by PVI Insurance (formerly Saigon Post & Telecommunication Insurance Company / PTI), per APRIL's partner transition documentation. Product benefits, tiers and contact channels below are otherwise unchanged from the plan's official page — confirm the exact effective date and any transitional terms directly with your APRIL Vietnam advisor before relying on this for a claim in progress.
No single insurer fits every risk
We represent more than 25 insurers precisely because medical, vehicle, home, factory/office, and professional liability cover each reward a different kind of underwriter. An insurer we rate highly for expat medical cover may not be who we'd recommend for a factory property policy. This profile tells you what MyHEALTH Vietnam is — and isn't — the right fit for.
How MyHEALTH Vietnam scores on our 5 criteria
Scored out of 5 on each criterion. See the full methodology for how we assess reliability, benefits, flexibility, pricing and claims handling across all partner insurers.
Reliability
Underwritten by PVI Insurance — Vietnam's #1 non-life insurer by market share, A- (Excellent) rated by AM Best, with the largest charter capital of any non-life insurer in the country — administered locally by APRIL Vietnam. A stronger local underwriting profile than the plan's previous partner.
Benefits Value
Three tiers with limits up to $2,000,000, plus optional outpatient, maternity and dental/optical modules — generous for a Vietnam-anchored plan, though ceilings sit below the top global insurers on this directory.
Flexibility
The standout feature: six deductible levels, optional co-insurance, three underwriting methods (including a top-up option over an existing plan), and independent benefit levels per family member.
Pricing
Positioned as an accessible, locally-priced option, currently sharpened further by a 15% premium discount running through 31 October 2026 on selected plans.
Admin & Claims
100% digital claims via the Easy Claim app, cashless access to 4,500+ medical facilities in Asia, and a Vietnam-based multilingual support team who answer the phone locally.
A Vietnam-built plan, now backed by Vietnam's #1 non-life insurer
MyHEALTH Vietnam is designed specifically for the Vietnam market by APRIL International, part of APRIL Group — a wholesale insurance broker founded in Lyon, France in 1988, which expanded into Asia from 2012 and now operates across 18+ countries. Locally, the plan is arranged and administered by APRIL Vietnam Company Limited, based at Unit 201, Lafayette Building, 8 Phung Khac Khoan Street, Da Kao Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City — giving policyholders a Vietnam-based, multilingual team rather than an overseas call centre.
Following a partner transition documented by APRIL, the plan's underwriting risk now sits with PVI Insurance rather than the plan's previous underwriter. PVI is Vietnam's largest non-life insurer by market share, holds an A- (Excellent) financial strength rating from AM Best, and carries the largest charter capital of any non-life insurer in the country. The plan is open to Vietnamese nationals, permanent residents and foreigners alike, and remains built to be personalised: Hospital & Surgery is the core module (three tiers — Essential, Extensive, Elite), with optional Outpatient, Maternity and Dental & Optical modules layered on top, each independently selectable per family member. A running promotion takes 15% off premiums on selected plans through 31 October 2026.
Regulation & financial backing
- Underwritten by PVI Insurance — Vietnam's #1 non-life insurer by market share, A- (Excellent) rated by AM Best, and affiliated with the PetroVietnam group with HDI Global (Talanx) as a technical partner.
- Arranged and administered by APRIL Vietnam Company Limited, backed by the international infrastructure of APRIL Group (Lyon, France).
- Cashless access across a network of 4,500+ medical facilities in Asia, plus worldwide travel and medical assistance and 24/7 TeleHEALTH.
Who we recommend MyHEALTH Vietnam for
Ideal client profile
Vietnamese nationals, permanent residents and foreigners who are settled in Vietnam and want a plan they can shape benefit by benefit — choosing deductibles, co-insurance, area of cover and add-on modules independently for each family member. It can also be used as a top-up over an existing local or corporate plan. Less suited to globally mobile executives who need one policy to follow them seamlessly across many countries over a career — for that, we'd point you to a different partner on this directory.
Elite — Hospital & Surgery
Core in-patient and surgery cover with an annual limit of US$2,000,000, plus full outpatient cover and the richest maternity and dental/optical add-on levels.
Extensive — Hospital & Surgery
Annual limit of US$1,000,000 with full outpatient cover available as an add-on, and mid-level maternity and dental/optical options.
Essential — Hospital & Surgery
Annual limit of US$100,000 or US$500,000 — the accessible entry point, with outpatient cover capped at US$5,000 if added.
Maternity
US$5,000 to US$15,000 per pregnancy depending on tier.
Dental & Optical
Three cover levels addable to any Hospital & Surgery tier.
Deductible & co-insurance
Six deductible levels (US$0–10,000) on Hospitalisation, plus an optional 20% co-insurance on Outpatient — waived when treatment is taken within the panel network.
Common questions about MyHEALTH Vietnam
Sourced and paraphrased from APRIL International's own product FAQ — answered here in the context of clients based in Vietnam.
How do I build my own plan?
Hospital & Surgery is the required core module — choose Essential, Extensive or Elite. On top of that, add Outpatient, Maternity and/or Dental & Optical, each at its own coverage level. Every family member can be set up with a different combination, and you can pick an area of cover and a deductible or co-insurance level to fit your budget.
What area-of-cover choices are there?
Worldwide, Worldwide excluding USA, or Europe and ASEAN excluding Singapore. Cover is portable — the same benefit level applies whether you're in Vietnam or travelling within your selected area, and the policy moves with you if you relocate.
Can I use MyHEALTH Vietnam as a top-up to my current plan?
Yes. You can take Hospital & Surgery cover with an annual deductible matched to your existing plan's limit — your current insurer pays up to its limit, then APRIL covers the remaining costs up to your MyHEALTH annual limit. Outpatient or Dental/Optical can be added on top if your existing plan falls short there too.
How are pre-existing conditions handled?
Three underwriting routes are available: Full Medical Underwriting (declare your full history, insurer decides case-by-case), Moratorium (no medical questionnaire, pre-existing conditions become eligible after 2 continuous treatment- and symptom-free years), or CPME, which lets you carry over the same terms as a former approved insurer without new underwriting.
How do I lower my premium?
Choose a higher deductible on Hospital & Surgery (up to US$10,000), or add 20% co-insurance to Outpatient — which is waived entirely when you use a provider inside APRIL's panel network. A 15% discount is also currently running on selected plans through 31 October 2026.
How do I submit and track a claim?
Through the Easy Claim app — upload your bills and supporting documents, then track and update the request from your phone. Direct billing is also available at partner hospitals and 4,500+ facilities across Asia, so many in-patient cases won't need a claim at all.
Reach APRIL Vietnam or your advisor
For in-patient treatment, submit or arrange direct billing through the Easy Claim app first — it's the fastest route to cashless admission at any of APRIL's 4,500+ partner facilities in Asia.
